Angel Farmerio is a rising interdisciplinary artist based in Fairfax, Va. She has spent the last decade experimenting with various media, including but not limited to: oil pastel, watercolor, acrylic, graphite and charcoal. 

Her art revolves around self image and outward perception. Facing struggles with bullying and differing treatment due to being both plus-sized and coming from a multicultural background heavily impacted how she sees the world and she uses the act of creating as a catharsis and a means to let young people experiencing similar things know that they are not alone.

In her earlier years, she experimented with watercolors, using them as her main medium to try to replicate images. Because Angel has Aphantasia, it was a major struggle for her to draw things that weren't directly observable, but since studying at George Mason University,(where she is currently a senior) she is beginning to warp observable elements into more abstract concepts. She has made detailed self portraits with oil pastels as well as more abstract pieces involving graphic floating eyeballs to convey the ideal of being stared at in public settings. Angel also has an interest in dreams, because that’s the only time she has visual imagination and has created pieces that delve into them.
